About Us

Aqusmatiq Audio launched in 2023, but the story started years earlier. For a long time, the founders worked on separate projects: sound design books, Max for Live Devices, iOS apps like iVCS3 (which some of you might know), training programs for developers. At some point, we asked ourselves: why not bring all this together and build something bigger? That’s how Aqusmatiq was born: professional, cross-platform audio plugins designed by people who’ve been obsessed with synths and sound design for decades.

Maurizio Giri is an electronic music composer, educator, and the author of Electronic Music and Sound Design: a multi-volume series that’s become a core text in conservatories and music technology programs across Europe and beyond. He has also developed Max for Live devices and iOS apps under the name “Amazing Noises“, such as Dark Synth, Moebius Lab and Grain Scanner. These tools have found their way into the workflows of experimental producers and sound designers who need something beyond the usual presets. At Aqusmatiq, Maurizio brings that same attention to detail: he ensures our algorithms aren’t just technically solid, but sonically compelling.

Alessandro Petrolati is a classically trained pianist who shifted his focus to software development and never looked back. He founded apeSoft, and has built iOS apps that push the boundaries of granular synthesis and interface design: tools like iPulsaret, iDensity, and the iVCS3 hardware emulation that iOS musicians have relied on for over a decade. His approach combines a deep understanding of synthesis algorithms with interfaces that feel intuitive, even when the underlying processes are complex. At Aqusmatiq, Alessandro handles the technical architecture and product roadmap, ensuring that what we build isn’t just accurate on paper, but actually feels right when you’re three hours into a session and need the plugin to do exactly what you’re hearing in your head.

Diego Capoccitti is an electronic music producer, educator, and the person who makes sure everything actually works when you hit play. He balances teaching synthesis and production with developing his own C++ chops, specializing in the JUCE framework that powers most modern audio plugins. At Aqusmatiq, Diego bridges the gap between ambitious ideas and stable software, taking concepts that sound great in theory and turning them into plugins that won’t spike your CPU or crash mid-session. He also handles QA, audio production, and community support, which means if something breaks, he’s the one tracking down why and fixing it before you even notice.
